- Recently, there is an opinion that people are often advocated for violence. Is it so?
- You know, if you consider a familiar person with whom you met, talked to transport, outside or elsewhere... Of course, there are a lot of such rape. And it happens that the husband rapes. In the Criminal Code of many countries there is an article «Sophisticated rape». We also have such cases, but our women rarely appeal about this to law enforcement agencies. For them, there is a concept as married duties, and, in their opinion, it is not necessary to have a desire for sexual relations with her husband.
- You probably have to cooperate with the police?
- We are treated with those women who, when contacting the police, received a refusal to initiate a criminal case. And we begin to prepare all the documents in order for the case to be initiated. This is not a cooperation, but rather an attempt to make law enforcement agencies work on these cases. I think that in general the most raped refusal in the police. We have research testifying to this. A huge part of rapes in St. Petersburg is not fixed anywhere. That small figure, which is given by law enforcement agencies, and this is 100 - no more - rapes per year, most likely one tenth, if not twenty, part of all cases.
- Is it possible to avoid rape?
- Yes - if you sit at home and do not go anywhere... The question must be put differently: what to do in society so that the men stop raping women?
- Men love to talk: they say, herself is to blame, provoked...
- This is a rather aggressive installation against women. And very paradoxical. Supposedly man is a puppet in the hands of women. Agree, a very strange position, despite the people apply for power and control in society... When making rape, men use it as an excuse, and it is assimilated by the courts, and law enforcement agencies and forensic exams, and psychologists, that is, the entire system.
- What do you think you need to do in the framework of all of our society?
- First, establish the work of law enforcement agencies. They must be trained in how to treat victims of violence. It is impossible to come to the whole division of the police and loudly interrogate the girl, and all in turn. Secondly, organize a good system of forensic examination. We have a half expert on a five millionth city - this does not comply with WHO standards. In addition, according to the standards of forensic examination, it should be carried out within two hours after the crime. And we have people waiting for ten days to be initiated by a criminal case, and then the examination has already been made. If you raped you, then you will lose all testimony evidence. And then everyone is happy to say that there is no evidence, so things do not reach the court, and the rapists feel very good.
In many countries there is a good system for collecting material evidence. All of them are going, folded into special packages, and all this is so kept. We have no such packages. All evidence falls in disarray, and the lawyer of the rapist should not destroy them, which is done. In addition, judges must also be prepared. And public opinion should work with male rapist.
- You think public opinion can be changed?
- But it also changes gradually in other countries. Due to public campaigns. Until our society makes men think that they have the right to satisfy their physiological needs forcibly. And since they are usually not punished for it, they feel great.
- Since we started talking about time, how much it is necessary for psychological rehabilitation after rape?
- There is short-term rehabilitation, 8-12 sessions. But there are women who need a long-term process. Such to us go for five years. They can get unwanted pregnancy, infectious disease, God forbid, HIV. The second is a very important thing - the psychological state of the raped woman who prevents working, learn, to establish trust relationships with men, raise a child.
- And how do you feel about the defense courses for women?
- This is a very common practice abroad, and on the basis of not only women's centers, but also the police. For example, in Germany there are special courses on which the police teach women to defend. We need courses oriented precisely on our women who have very weak physical training. This should not be a power self-defense, but a defense at which a person does not lose their composure and somehow defends himself, and then quickly hides, because a woman to join powerful martial arts with men is quite difficult.
This is a difficult question, especially considering the frequent cases of the presence of weapons from the attackers and the fact that they are often attacking the group that many of them are under drug influence. Perhaps it is better to teach women to use self-defense weapon...
