Polyarthritis, like any disease of the joints, is difficult to treat. That is why it should be long and persistent. Treatment of infectious polyarthritis: infectious polyarthritis can be cured if the treatment is carried out on time and correctly.
Content
For the treatment of infectious polyarthritis, first of all, a study of fluid taken from the joint is carried out: the causative agent of the disease and its sensitivity to antibiotics is determined. According to the results of this analysis, antibacterial therapy is prescribed.
Antibiotics are appointed intravenously, the rest of the introduction paths are considered ineffective. Conducting medical punctures are also carried out, in which the inflammatory liquid is removed by their joint. If there is a lot of pus in the joint, it is removed by a surgical method (drainage of the joint). In order to alleviate pain, the tire is superimposed on the joint, providing its immobility. All treatment is held in the hospital.
Treatment of crystalline polyarthritis
The attack of acute gouty polyarthritis without treatment lasts several days, with the help of treatment it can be removed in a few hours. For this purpose, various anti-inflammatory agents are prescribed, removing tissue edema and reduce pain. These are the so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs), for example, Indomethacin. But the effect of these funds appears only after 12-24 hours, so with strong pains first introduced another drawing drug - colchicine (it is better to introduce intravenously, as it often causes gastrointestinal complications). If these drugs for some reason are contraindicated, short-term hormone therapy (prednisone) is prescribed for pain relief (prednisolone).
For the prevention of exacerbations, a diet restricting food rich in purines is prescribed (liver, kidneys, brains, canned fish), abundant alkaline drink. Means that reduce the release of uric acid (for example, allopurinol) are prescribed only with frequent attacks of arthritis and kidney damage, since these drugs have pronounced side effects.
Treatment of rheumatoid polyarthritis
Treatment of rheumatoid polyarthritis consists of several stages. First of all, with first identified disease, NSAIDs are prescribed, which remove swelling and joint pain. If NSPIDs do not bring relief, as well as in the presence of damage to the internal organs and the general serious condition is prescribed hormone therapy (prednisolone). Hormones apply in extreme cases when all other features have been exhausted.
With exacerbation of the disease to the joint superimpose the tire, locking the limb in a convenient for a patient. The pain is also facilitated by heat. As they subscribe to pain, the volume of movements in the joint increases, the patient begins to move with the help of orthopedic devices (for example, crutches). At this time, to improve the mobility of the joints, it is necessary to conduct sessions of therapeutic physical education.
There is also the so-called basic therapy of rheumatoid polyarthritis, which slows down the destruction of cartilage and bones. Drugs are prescribed, carrying immunological processes (hydroxychloroquine, sulfasalazine), since the main cause of joint diseases in this case is elevated immune responses of the body. If such therapy is ineffective, then drugs are prescribed, which slow down the reproduction of tissue cells (for example, methotrexate). This prevents the growing granulation tissue in the joints that destroys cartilage. Preparations of these groups can be used only under the supervision of the doctor.
In case of extreme need to reduce pain and improve the function of the joints, surgical treatment is carried out and even prosthetics (artificial joint).
Physiotherapeutic and resort treatment of polyarthritis
Physiotherapeutic treatment of polyarthritis is aimed at removing pain, edema and inflammation in the joint. For this purpose, administered with electrophoresis and phophoresis drugs (hydrocortisone, NSAIDs, novocaine, etc.) Courses of other physiotherapy (magnetotherapy, ultrasound, paraffin therapy, ozokeritotherapy, cryotherapy - cold exposure) are held.
Treatment of polyarthritis (especially rheumatoid) should be permanent. First of all, it is a dispensary observation, treatment at the therapist and regular treatment in the hospital. Sanatorium-resort treatment is held outside the exacerbation. Courses of baths, mud, physiotherapy procedures allow patients even with a severe course of the disease long to live without exacerbations, since it was during the spa treatment that blood circulation is restored in the joints, the metabolism is normalized, which contributes to the restoration of cartilage and bone tissue.
