  • What is glaucoma?

    Glaucoma is expressed as a chronic eye disease, accompanied by an increase in intraocular pressure, and as a consequence - reduced vision. To date, this disease is studied by ophthalmologists thoroughly.

    The main types of glaucoma: congenital and acquired

    The acquired in turn is divided into:

    • youthful (arises in adolescence);
    • OPERTANCERAL (occurs more often);
    • The closedian (proceeds with paincrops);
    • secondary (against the background of other eye diseases).

    How everything happens?

    Our eye – a complex system. In the front of it, it continues to circulate intraocular fluid, which is displayed through a complex drainage system. When the eye is healthy, it retains the balance between the amount of the resulting and exhausting fluid and thereby constantly ensures normal intraocular pressure.

    Glaucoma. How to be?! If the liquid accumulates too much, then the pressure increases. As a result, there is a squeezing of blood vessels that feed the retina, the iris and the optic nerve, which causes gradual degeneration of tissues, and therefore, and impairment of sight. In the end, persistent high intraocular pressure can lead to atrophy of the optic nerve and even to blindness.

    Glaucoma Development Stages:

    • initial;
    • developed stage (narrowing of fields of view, reduced visual acuity);
    • Terminal (sharp reduction of vision up to blindness).

    The most characteristic signs of glaucoma:

    • periodic, but stubborn headaches;
    • Rainbow circles around light sources;
    • Taming;
    • feeling of the foreign body in the eye;
    • tear;
    • impairment;
    • the need for frequent change of glasses;
    • progressive.
    • Unfortunately, glaucoma may not submit any signs.

    Diagnosis is important!

    After 40 years, each person it is necessary to undergo a prophylactic inspection from an ophthalmologist at least 1-2 times a year. This is especially important for patients with hyperopia, heredity in glaucoma and after eye operations. Extremely dangerous glaucoma, characterized by normal and low intraocular pressure. To diagnose such a hidden illness, besides measuring eye pressure, it is necessary to study the fields of view, computer scanning of the retina and the optic nerve disk.

    Treatment of glaucoma

    Medicia treatment glaucoma - Selection of medicines and drops. As well as treatment regime, its saturation is individual, and may be selected only after a thorough examination.

    Laser treatment of glaucoma represents the formation of additional paths of outflow of intraocular fluid with a laser; It is carried out in the ineffectiveness of drug therapy.

    Surgical treatment of glaucoma. With the ineffectiveness of laser surgery of glaucoma, and at more running glaucoma stages are used imperminent and penetrating filtering operations, with the help of which new paths of waterfront moisture are created from the eye. This complex treatment method has an advantage - after surgery, the patient is delighted with the need to use drops for 5-7 years.

    Any reduction in vision in glaucoma is irreversible and without timely treatment can be completely lost.
